S. A. Shobeiri, MD, FACOG
I feel fortunate to serve women through the services that we provide at the section of Female Pelvic medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Because of the work and dedication of our staff and nurses OU Pelvic and Bladder Health Clinic has been recognized with multiple awards.  The operative services at OU hospitals have kept pace with our demands for excellence.  Recently hospital allocated dedicated operating floor to the FPMRS service.  The post-operative units have been recognized by our patients as providing the best care in Oklahoma.
Our efforts have resulted in a robust increase in research conducted at our center.  Our basic science research is doing well.  Our clinical research is led by Dr. Lieschen Quiroz, and the research nurses at Center of Research for Women's Health are doing a great job with ever increasing demands of performing research.  The Pelvic Floor Investigation Group formation has resulted in gathering of investigators with a passion for pelvic floor disorders.
The physicians at the section of Female Pelvic medicine and Reconstructive Surgery have been recognized by the students and residents for their excellence in teaching.  We are fortunate to have Dr. Mikio Nihira as the director of FPMRS fellowship program, and the co-director of the surgical simulation center at OUHSC.  Through his hard work and cooperation of our friends in the medical community, an ABOG/AUA approved fellowship program came to fruition in 2008, and we accepted our first fellow in 2009.
There is much to be thankful for as I feel we have made a difference in the lives of our patients, the path of our trainees, and the course of the pelvic floor disorders that afflict women.
